She's a "Mrs."!

My oldest sister was absolutely stunning, and it was a wonderful weekend in Scottsdale celebrating with family and friends.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Lawson!

I  have to share some of my favorite Scottsdale spots with you from the weekend:

The Herb Box {delicious breakfast!}

These spots were great...almost made me feel like I could live in Arizona....almost ; )

Going to the Chapel and They're...

Gonna get Married....

{image via Pinterest}

On Saturday my biggest sister gets married!

The whole family is packing up and heading to Scottsdale, Arizona early tomorrow morning.  We have lots of fun wedding events to attend until the big day Saturday night.

The wedding will be held at the Regale! At DC Ranch - the venue looks beautiful.  I can't wait to tear up the dance floor with my family = )

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  It's going to be a cold one in Scottsdale, AZ!

Creamed Corn Au Gratin {Summit House Recipe!}

This summer we celebrated our third wedding anniversary.  We went out for a lovely lunch at The Summit House in Fullerton.  I have never been a huge fan of creamed corn {I love corn by itself, but creamed corn has always seemed a bit gross to me}.

That was - until I met THIS creamed corn!

I don't know how else to say it.  YOU - HAVE - GOT - TO - TRY - THIS.

I personally didn't even order the creamed corn at The Summit House - but my husband did...and I devoured his.  Afterwards,  I told the hostess as we left, "Thank YOU - that creamed corn was SO good!"  To which she replied, "Oh, please take a recipe card.  You can make it yourself!"

WHAT??  This is so good that they GIVE it out to their guests...for free?  Yes, indeed.

I'm going to try to make a big batch for my sister's Rustic Fall Bridal Shower tomorrow.   I am literally going to pray that it tastes as good as it did when I had it at The Summit House.

Here's the recipe:

12 oz whipping cream
1 lb. frozen kernel corn
1 1/2 T. melted butter
1 1/2 T. flour
2 T. sugar
1 pinch white pepper
3 T. parmesan cheese

Combine corn, cream, salt, sugar, and white pepper in a pot and bring to a boil.  Simmer for 5 minutes.  Make a roux from butter and flour; add to corn, mix well, and remove from heat.  Transfer corn mixture to casserole.  Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and brown under broiler.

 {Serves 6}

Can't wait to make it!

By the way - remember these cupcakes/cake I made for Kyle and Danielle's wine-themed wedding at The Summit House last year?

They just celebrated their first anniversary - can't believe it's already been a year!  I had so much fun making these goodies for their beautiful wedding ~ happy anniversary, you two!

Happy VERY Belated New Year!

WOW, WOW, WOW!  I am waaaaay behind on the blogging.

I just got SO relaxed on my lovely two-week long teacher Christmas Break.  School has been back in session for two weeks now, and I am SWAMPED.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year's Eve.  One of the highlights of my Christmas vacation was celebrating my firstborn niece, Madison Rae's, 2nd birthday - Minnie Style!  Have you checked out her party?

Although belated, I thought you might enjoy this beautiful New Year's Eve Wedding inspiration board from Winter Wedding Ideas.  It's never too late to start planning for next year, right?

I pray for God's many blessings on your 2011!

{Sweet Weddings} Danielle & Kyle's Wine Themed Wedding

October has been one crazy month!  First full month of school for us teachers, Parent/Teacher Conferences, weddings, cupcakes & events galore, starting up a new Wedding & Event Planning Service...the list goes on and on!  This past weekend was nothing short of pure craziness.  On top of making these 196 cupcakes, I attended a beautiful vintage themed Baby Shower for my cousin {more to come on that later}, and celebrated another year of life for my hubby!

I am so happy with the way that this cupcake display turned out ~ and so grateful to Danielle for thinking of me and giving me this opportunity!

The inspiration:

BIG NEWS!!!

My best friend Jen, {whose chic and elegant wedding I posted about here}, and I have been talking about starting our own Wedding and Event Planning service for quite some time.  Jen's sister Michelle, {who threw this gorgeous Bridal Shower}, has also been a part of our conversations and ideas regarding starting our own company.  Between planning my own wedding and shower two years ago, and planning Jen's wedding and events like her Lingerie Shower, we three started to realize that we make a pretty darn good team!

After much thought, planning, dreaming, and praying...we've decided to take the plunge.  Our company is officially beginning!
Our blog is still a work in progress, but it's a start!

I didn't know where this blog, The Sweet Life Studio, would lead me.  Turns out...it's led me here!  I am so excited to get this started with these amazing ladies ~ and to see what the future holds for us!

Thank you to my current followers ~ and to all of the ladies out there who give me so much inspiration with their creativity every day.  I appreciate you more than you know!

PLEASE visit our blog ~ become a "follower" ~ and help us spread the word!

{Jen's Wedding} Photo Booth Fun!

Jen and Justin had a photo booth at their wedding.  The photos that guests took throughout the night also served as their "favor."  They got creative and provided props for the photos:  sunglasses, wigs, hats...you name it!  Photos printed out on the spot ~ and guests could go in as many times as they wanted.  So fun!

Here are some of my photo booth pictures from the night...

My sisters and our significant others tried to squeeze in for one shot {we have one 6'1 man and two 6'4" men in there}!

This picture describes our family in a nutshell.

With the bride, a bridesmaid, and a friend.

The Bride & her Matron of Honor

Hubby and I.

And last, but not least...
This says "Christmas Card" all over it!

Guests put their photos in these chic DIY boxes that we made.  Just a silver box with a ribbon and a jewel, but so elegant!

If you are in the Southern California area, and you are interested in renting this photo booth, visit their website or call 714.493.1885.

It is sure to be a BIG HIT!
